Inama Soave, 2008
Soave gets a bad rap. Industrial plonk fueling hordes of tourists is one thing. Inama (and a handful of other quality producers) is something else. Produced from the local garganega grape, soave can help you wean your chardonnay addicted friends. Here’s a description from wine writer Stephen Tanzer: “Pale straw-yellow color with a green tinge. Herbal and minty aromas mingle with banana, underripe [sic] pineapple and pear. Light and fresh on entry, with a pleasant herbal nuance to the ripe citrus and pineapple flavors. Bright acids give this wine considerable clarity and cut. Quite persistent for what is a base-level Soave in name only, as this is at a quality level far superior to that of similarly priced wines.”
