Pastaworks Events:

Pastaworks is pleased to provide fresh pasta to Sisters of the Road and P:ear. Since 1979, Sisters Of The Road has been an essential part of the Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood. Sisters offers a space to build community, empower ourselves, learn from one another, dine with dignity and organize for justice and human rights for all.

Sisters Of The Road's mission is to build authentic relationships and alleviate the hunger of isolation in an atmosphere of nonviolence and gentle personalism that nurtures the whole individual, while seeking systemic solutions that reach the roots of homelessness and poverty to end them forever. Fresh meals and a working cafe are central to this work and Pastaworks is proud to provide pasta to the kitchen.

P:ear builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth, ages 15 to 24, through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives. Each year our programs serve more than 550 homeless and transitional young people.

To truly exit homelessness, kids must develop the internal strength, skills and foresight to make healthy choices. p:ear provides a safe, non-judgmental environment in which youth are trusted to outgrow unproductive and harmful behaviors. We offer individualized mentoring and education programs in a safe, reliable setting designed to foster trust, build self-esteem and to teach homeless and transitional kids – who all too often are regarded by society as disposable, "hopeless cases" – that they are valuable individuals with a future who have something vital to contribute to this community. Breaking bread together is an important part of creating this environment and again Pastaworks is proud to help stock P:ear's kitchen.

B-Line Sustainable Urban Delivery provides the crucial delivery connection between Pastaworks, Sisters of the Road and P:ear.

After delivering fresh goods to Pastaworks B-Line picks up our fresh pasta and delivers it to both agencies, located within a couple of blocks of one another in Portland's Old Town.

A taste of Piedmont w/ Aldo Vacca

We are pleased to welcome Aldo Vacca from Produttori del Barbaresco for a taste (or two) of Piedmont at Pastaworks.

Aldo, as many of you know, is the marketing director for the Produttori del Barbaresco. His father and uncle revived the co-op's fortunes in the 1950's and Aldo maintains a proud and rich tradition of quality, consistency and value while working to promote the efforts of the member families.

In stellar vintages the Produttori offer up to nine single vineyard crus from the most pretigious sites in Barbaresco. The last single vineyard wines came from the 2005 vintage. No single vineyards wines were produced from the 2006 harvest. These wines are highly acclaimed and are in relatively short supply.

For the evening, we'll sample 2007 Montefico, Pora and Rio Sordo single vineyard wines, as well as a selection from 2005 and perhaps something a bit older. Cheese and salami snacks will also be served.

This is an event always sells out quickly.
